Shear Line and Northeast Monsoon to Bring Rains Across Luzon and Visayas

Manila – Several regions in Luzon and the Visayas are expected to experience scattered rains due to the influence of the shear line and the northeast monsoon, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in their 4 a.m. bulletin on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, areas such as Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and parts of Samar will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan,’ will bring cloudy skies with light rains to Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and the rest of Cagayan Valley. The Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas, while the rest of the Philippines will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. Temperature forecasts for key cities include 25°C to 31°C in Metro Manila, 16°C to 25°C in Baguio City, and 26°C to 33°C in Metro Davao.
