The second phase of school sessions began yesterday involving pupils from pre-school to Year 5 at all Primary Schools under the control of Ministry of Education, all Private Schools and Religious Schools under the control of Ministry of Religious Affairs. This Morning, the RTB crew took a closer look on the first day of schooling nationwide after 3 months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the country.

The schools have made preparations to receive pupils at this level by ensuring the social distancing can be implemented by rearranging desks and chairs in the classroom; the canteen area, library and hall according to the Standard Operating Procedure, SOP. The schools also provide hand sanitizers at strategic locations.

To control the movement of the pupils, the schools have set up a two-lane route and marked the floor to make the social distancing easier. Apart from that, pupils are also encouraged to wear face masks while attending the schools’ learning sessions.
