His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hosted a Royal Banquet in honour of the State Visit of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait and his delegation. The ceremony took place at the Royal Banquet Hall, Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam welcomed the arrival of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait.

Prior to the Royal Banquet, His Majesty received a courtesy call from His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait at the Royal Lounge.

Also present were His Majesty’s sons, brother and sister, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Royal-in-Attendance; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

His Majesty and His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait proceeded for the Royal Banquet ceremony.

Relations between Brunei Darussalam and the State of Kuwait continued to develop rapidly since the two countries established diplomatic relations 26 years ago. This enables both countries to enjoy a closer friendly relations and cooperation.

Doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

To further strengthen the existing relations, Brunei Darussalam and the State of Kuwait continue to expand cooperation including the signing of several agreements and Memorandum of Understanding. Both countries hope to held a Joint Committee Meeting on Economic and Technical Cooperation end of this year. Brunei Darussalam and the State of Kuwait also support the expanding of social and economic cooperation by exploring mutually beneficial opportunities, such as in the fields of trade, economic and investment, oil and gas, education, tourism, information technology, private sector linkages and Islamic Affairs.

His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait’s State Visit to Brunei Darussalam is certainly a memorable occasion to the people of both countries. His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait’s State Visit to the country is the first at the invitation of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
