Republic of Korea and Brunei Darussalam Strengthen Economic and Cultural Ties

Bandar seri begawan: Economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, infrastructure, education, and tourism are expected to further strengthen the close relationship between the Republic of Korea and Brunei Darussalam.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam highlighted the ongoing strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the economic field, alongside growing people-to-people and cultural exchanges. These insights were shared by His Excellency Sun NahmKook during the National Day Reception of the Republic of Korea, held at the Tarindak D’Seni in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Representing His Majesty’s government at the event was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. During his speech, His Excellency Sun NahmKook noted that in 2024, bilateral trade volume reached 543.3 million Brunei Dollar. As of May 2025, Korea has become Brunei’s third-largest export destination. Furthermore, Korean companies have actively contributed to significant infrastructure projects within Brunei, signaling a robust partnership between the two nations.
