Rain Showers Persist Across the Philippines Due to Easterlies and ‘Amihan’

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Thursday that several regions in the Philippines will continue to experience rain showers due to the influence of easterlies and the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.”

According to Philippines News Agency, regions including Davao, Caraga, and Southern Leyte are expected to face scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, with a risk of moderate to heavy rains leading to potential flash floods or landslides. Additionally, Batanes and Babuyan Islands are forecasted to receive isolated light rains caused by the amihan. The rest of the country is also anticipated to encounter isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, which could escalate to severe weather events. PAGASA has advised the public to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures against possible flash floods or landslides. Coastal waters in Northern Luzon are expected to remain moderate to rough, with moderate to strong winds, while the remainder of the archipelago will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
