The Fruittella brand of Assorted Chewy Sweets sold in several supermarkets in the country have been found to contain swine-sourced gelatin. The findings were the result of an inspection conducted by the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Halal Food Control Division after receiving complaints from the public.
The findings were also confirmed based on information received from the company that manufactures the product. Following the findings, the supermarket owner involved was instructed to isolate all products produced by the company immediately in the ‘Non Halal Section’ area. The Ministry of Religious Affairs would also like to remind owners, managers, entrepreneurs, traders, suppliers and product importers to always be vigilant and be more sensitive to imported products that will be sold to the public by ensuring that halal products are not mixed with non-halal ones.
