The schools and collages communities have the responsibility to cooperate in the early prevention of the Zika Virus infection. This includes in ensuring that the schools and colleges are clean and do not become mosquito breeding places.
The topic was raised this afternoon at a briefing on, “CLEANLINESS TO PREVENT ZIKA VIRUS INFECTION,’ organised by the Health Safety, Security and Environment, HSSE Division, Department of Administration and Services of the Ministry of Education.
Among other matters, the briefing touched on several cleanliness issues at schools and colleges such as dirty and damaged toilets, rubbish-clogged drains and improper storage of equipment and other objects. The session also explained the country’s measures in addressing the Zika threat through prevention, detection and control. The briefing was attended by Principals and teachers in charge of health from schools and colleges under Clusters 1 to 4. A similar briefing will also be held on Saturday for schools and colleges under Clusters 5 and 6 in the Tutong and Belait Districts. The session will take place at the Tutong Sixth Form Centre.
