President Marcos Jr. Commends Speaker Romualdez, Eyes Stronger House Partnership
Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his anticipation for a strengthened partnership with the House of Representatives under Speaker Martin Romualdez’s leadership. This sentiment was conveyed in a birthday video greeting for Romualdez played during the House’s plenary session. President Marcos lauded Romualdez for his significant role in the nation-building efforts of the administration.
According to Philippines News Agency, During the session, the House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 1463, which acknowledges and appreciates President Marcos’s support for the unity and integrity of the institution. The resolution also aligns with the aim of realizing a Common Legislative Agenda (CLA) for a strong and prosperous nation. Under the current partnership, eight out of the 57 Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority measures have been enacted into law, including the SIM Registration Act and the Postponement of the Barangay/SK Elections in 2022. Additionally, significant progress has been made with 35 LEDAC bills passing the third reading, covering key initiatives like the establishment of the Virology Institute of the Philippines and the Passive Income and Financial Intermediary Taxation Act (PIFITA). Other important measures are currently in various stages of the legislative process. In a notable achievement, the House approved all 20 identified LEDAC bills three months ahead of the December deadline, demonstrating a strong collaborative effort between the legislative and executive branches.
