Post: Power Supply Disruption Affects Four Districts, Restoration Efforts Underway

Bandar seri begawan: Power supply in several areas across four districts was affected on the night of May 26. The Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office announced that the power supply began to be restored in phases starting at 2:33 in the morning, with a majority of the affected areas successfully back online by 5:42 in the morning. The remaining areas saw full restoration by 9 in the morning.

According to Radio Television Brunei, technical teams from the Department of Electrical Services are actively working to identify the cause of the disruption. Initial assessments suggest that active weather conditions, particularly severe lightning, may have impacted parts of the transmission or distribution network. The root cause is still under investigation, but no critical facilities have been affected. The department is closely monitoring the situation as severe weather persists, with the potential for intermittent power supply disruptions.

Dedicated response teams are on standby to swiftly address any further disruptions and ensure system stability. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The Department of Electrical Services assures the public that the situation is being addressed with the utmost urgency and coordination across relevant agencies.
