Pope Francis Encourages Viewing World’s Challenges Through the Perspective of Children
ROME: During the Feast of the Epiphany on Saturday, Pope Francis delivered a message urging the faithful to perceive the world’s challenges through the eyes of children. This message was part of his Angelus address, which marks a significant event in the Christian faith.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Feast of the Epiphany, which commemorates the visit of the Three Wise Men to Jesus after His birth, offers an opportunity to adopt a new perspective. The Pope, hailing from Argentina, highlighted the importance of children in understanding and relating to Jesus. He emphasized the values of trust, immediacy, wonder, healthy curiosity, and the natural ability of children to express emotions and dreams. “If we stand before the child Jesus and in the company of children, we will learn to be amazed, and we will start out simpler and better, like the Magi,” he stated.
Pope Francis elaborated on the idea that through children, the world could adopt a new and creative outlook on its problems. He challenged the faithful to reflect on their own engagement with the essence of the Epiphany. The Pope posed introspective questions: “Let us ask ourselves, then: in these days, have we stopped to adore, have we made a little space for Jesus in silence? Have we dedicated time to the children, to speaking and playing with them?”
Moreover, Pope Francis extended his thoughts to a broader context, praying for the world to increase its love for the Child Jesus and all children, particularly those suffering due to war and injustice. His message resonates with a call for compassion and understanding rooted in the simplicity and purity of children’s perspectives.
