PLDT High Speed Hitters Secure Victory Over Farm Fresh Foxies
MANILA — The PLDT High Speed Hitters clinched a straight-set victory over the Farm Fresh Foxies, winning 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday. The win secured PLDT’s place in the next round of the competition.
According to Philippines News Agency, Elena Samoilenko, the team’s import, led the High Speed Hitters with 22 points and nine excellent receptions, contributing significantly to their fourth win in five matches during the Pool A eliminations. Fiona Mae Ceballos added 11 attacks and 10 excellent digs, while Mike Aereen Reyes contributed eight points, including four blocks.
In other developments, Creamline and Chery Tiggo, both holding 3-1 records, advanced to the next round as top teams, while Farm Fresh finished fourth with a 2-3 record. The next stage of the tournament will feature the top three teams from Pool A competing against the bottom three from Pool B, with the top eight teams advancing to the knockout quarterfinals.
“Everyone is happy with the adjustments we’ve made; we really worked hard,” commented Kim Fajardo, who made 12 excellent sets and contributed three points. “The connection within the team is great, both on and off the court,” she added.
For the Foxies, Trisha Gayle Tubo led with 16 attacks and one ace, and import Yeny Murillo added 10 attacks, one ace, and eight excellent receptions. The Foxies mounted a late rally in the third set, closing the gap to 22-23, but the High Speed Hitters held on to close out the match in one hour and 21 minutes.
