SULTAN KUDARAT – Senate Minority Leader Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel has called for increased protection for doctors and healthcare workers, especially those serving in remote and conflict-affected areas, following an ambush on a physician in Sultan Kudarat. The incident, which critically injured Dr. Charmaine Ceballos Barroquillo, a government doctor at the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital, has sparked outrage and concern for the safety of medical professionals.

According to Philippines News Agency, the attack, which occurred on February 3 in a secluded area of Maguindanao Del Sur, underscores the urgent need for measures to ensure the security of healthcare providers.
