PHP6 Million Reward for Information on Misamis Occidental Governor’s Attackers

CAGAYAN: The reward for information leading to the capture of those responsible for the assassination attempt on Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. has been increased to PHP6 million, as announced by the police on Thursday. The increase comes in response to the incident that occurred last year when an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated near the governor’s convoy. The Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office stated that the reward comprises PHP1 million for individuals providing information and an additional PHP5 million for law enforcers who apprehend the culprits.

According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Oaminal was traveling in a convoy in the municipality of Clarin on October 15, 2023, when the IED exploded. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Following this incident, the governor has emphasized the importance of peace and security in the province, advocating against violence and focusing on development and attracting investors. Oaminal’s commitment to good governance and developmental progress in Misamis Occidental remains steadfast despite the attempt on his life.
