PHP300,000 Reward Offered for Information on Murder of Mindoro Councilman and Dentist
Calapan – On Monday, the mayor and a civil society group in Calapan city announced a PHP300,000 bounty for information leading to the capture of the perpetrators behind the murder of barangay kagawad Augustine Bolor Jr.
According to Philippines News Agency, spokesperson for the Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, Bolor, aged 63, a current kagawad and former chairman of Barangay San Vicente Central, as well as a practicing dentist, was discovered deceased with multiple stab wounds in his home on Sunday morning. Mayor Marilou Morillo contributed PHP200,000 to the reward fund, condemning the killing as a “severe violation of human rights,” while the Rotary Club of Downtown Calapan added PHP100,000.
Morillo has urged law enforcement agencies to promptly identify and apprehend the assailants responsible for the crime. The discovery of Bolor’s body was made by his sister, Cristeta Magundayao, who entered his room when he did not respond to her breakfast calls.
The Oriental Mindoro Police arrived at Bolor’s residence around 10:20 a.m., accompanied by the Regional Forensic Unit of Mimaropa. They processed the crime scene and conducted a preliminary autopsy. Selda disclosed that the police are considering robbery as the primary motive, noting that Bolor’s room appeared to have been ransacked, with jewelry and an unspecified amount of cash missing. Bolor was known for his affinity for flashy jewelry.
In response to the murder, Col. Samuel Delorino, the police chief of Oriental Mindoro, has directed a ‘priority investigation’ to ensure that justice is served in the case.
