Philippines-Japan Friendship Week Celebrated with Job Fair Offering 25,000 Overseas Positions

QUEZON CITY – In celebration of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Week, a special job fair aimed at providing 25,000 employment opportunities for Filipinos in Japan will be held on August 1st at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas. This event is a collaboration between the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Embassy of Japan.

According to Philippines News Agency, the job fair, titled ‘Konnichiwa Pilipinas! Kumusta, Japan!’ will feature fifteen licensed recruitment agencies offering positions in construction, medical and healthcare, hotel and restaurant, and customer service sectors among others. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third floor of the mall, providing a critical platform for Filipinos seeking overseas employment opportunities.

The DMW emphasized that the fair not only facilitates access to legitimate job recruiters but also educates prospective overseas Filipino workers about the gender dynamics and the risks associated with overseas labor migration. Short information sessions will cover aspects of the Japanese work culture, aiming to prepare candidates for employment in Japan effectively.

The event is part of the broader commemoration of the diplomatic relations established following the Peace Treaty and Reparations Agreement signed on July 23, 1956, as marked by Proclamation No. 854 signed in 2005 by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. This proclamation declared July 23 annually as Friendship Day between Japan and the Philippines, celebrating over six decades of partnership and cooperation.
