Philippine National Police Issues Warning on Social Media Use
MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has once again emphasized the importance of cautious social media usage among the public. This reminder was prompted by the apprehension of 143 individuals, including well-known vloggers, by the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) since the beginning of the year.
According to Philippines News Agency, the successful arrests were the result of thorough investigations and the effective collaboration between various agencies. Major General Sidney Hernia, director of the PNP-ACG, highlighted the significance of these partnerships in executing warrants and locating suspects. He urged social media users to exercise responsibility in their postings to avoid legal repercussions.
Hernia advised the public to think carefully before sharing content online, respect others’ privacy, educate themselves about internet regulations, seek legal counsel when in doubt, and contribute positively to the digital community. He stressed that responsible behavior on the internet is crucial for maintaining a healthy digital environment.
