Philippine International Dive Expo 2024 to be Hosted by DOT in Pasay City
PASAY CITY – The Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced its plans to host the Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX), the largest event for the global diving community, from February 23 to 25, 2024, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PHIDEX is a strategic initiative by the agency to enhance the Philippines’ diving portfolio. This event is a response to the commitment of various diving stakeholders and enthusiasts in leveraging the country’s rich marine biodiversity. The Philippines, recognized as one of the 18 mega biodiverse countries globally, is home to a vast array of marine species across its over 7,641 islands. “I encourage our fellow Filipinos and foreign friends to come and visit us, and see for yourselves the beauty in our waters, finding more reasons to love the Philippines through the PHIDEX,” Frasco stated.
The Philippines was named the World’s Leading Dive Destination by the World Travel Awards in 2023. Additionally, the country clinched the title of Asia’s Leading Dive Destination for the fifth consecutive year, highlighting the collective efforts in preserving and promoting the dive industry. This recognition involves collaboration among local governments, the private sector, and various dive communities.
The fourth edition of PHIDEX, themed ‘Heart of Asia’s Diving: Collaboration for the Ocean Community,’ will showcase the Philippines’ competitive edge as a top diving destination for adventurers and enthusiasts. The DOT has collaborated with Underwater 360, organizer of the Asia Dive Expo (ADEX), Asia’s longest-running and largest dive expo, for the exhibition component of PHIDEX 2024.
The expo is set to feature over 100 exhibitors, including dive resorts, dive shops, training agencies, insurance companies, equipment manufacturers, marine conservation associations, and National Tourism Organizations. This broad range of participants underlines the event’s significance in the global diving community and the Philippines’ role as a leading dive destination.
