Over 93,000 Iloilo Students Register for Department of Education’s Learning Camp

ILOILO—A total of 93,440 learners from Iloilo province have registered to participate in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) National Learning Camp (NLC) scheduled for July, aimed at addressing learning gaps ahead of the next school year.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative is voluntary for both students and teachers, designed as an enrichment activity to solidify prior learning and prepare students more effectively for upcoming academic challenges. The camp will focus on English, Math, and Science for Grades 7 to 10, and Reading and Math for Grades 1 to 3, with activities tailored to varying levels of learner needs.

The students will be organized into three different camps based on their learning needs: enhancement for advanced learners, consolidation for those requiring more practice, and intervention for those needing foundational support. As of the latest update, 8,008 learners are set to attend the enhancement camp, 26,659 the consolidation camp, and the majority, 58,773, will participate in the intervention camp.

This year’s registration marks a significant increase from the previous year’s 41,483 participants, reflecting the expanded preparation and resources allocated by DepEd to this program. A total of 740 schools across the province are involved in this educational initiative.
