Members of the public specifically senior citizens should not hesitate to get the COVID-19 vaccination for the benefit of all. The call was made by several senior citizens during interview while getting inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Since the opening of slots for senior citizens on the 22nd of April, 9 thousand 208 senior citizens in Brunei Darussalam have received the COVID-19 vaccine shot.
Scientific studies show the elderly are at a higher risk of getting more severe complications from COVID-19 infection and the COVID-19 vaccine injections have been shown to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection in the elderly.
The Ministry of Health very much welcomes and gives priority to senior citizens to get the COVID-19 vaccine injection. Meanwhile, adults with high-risks or comorbidities are also reminded to book their slot through the BruHealth application. To date, over 76 thousand people have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
