The Now brand Brewer’s Yeast Powder found to be sold at one of the country’s supermarkets, was ordered to be separated and sold in the ‘non-halal’ Section.
The order was issued following the findings of an investigation by the Department of Syariah Affairs through information obtained from the manufacturer’s website that the product was produced through an alcoholic drink process. The investigation was carried out after receiving complaints from the public on the sale of the product openly. The Ministry of Religious Affairs in its press release also reminded all importers, supermarkets and shops to separate immediately if there are similar products being distributed and sold at their respective premises.
