Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna Binti Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Ambassador at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, last Saturday continued her official visit to Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, the People’s Republic of China. Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar. Upon arrival at the airport, Her Royal Highness was greeted by Madame Hua Huiping, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing.
In Nanjing, Her Royal Highness visited the Nanjing Art Primary School and was entertained with cultural performances by the Nanjing Little Red Flower Troupe.
Her Royal Highness then held a meeting with His Excellency Zhang Jinghua,Secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC) and member of the Standing committee CPC Jiangsu Committee. During the meeting, both sides expressed hope towards enhancing the sister city relationship between Bandar Seri Begawan and Nanjing, including strengthening cooperation in e-commerce, exchange of visits, education and sports. Her Royal Highness also graced a welcoming dinner hosted by His Excellency Zhang Jinghua.
Yesterday, Her Royal Highness and His Excellency Zhang Jinghua jointly officiated the newly constructed ‘History Exhibition Hall of the King of Boni’ and visited the renovated ‘China-Brunei Friendship Hall’ at the Memorial Park of the King of Boni.
According to Chinese history, the “King of Boni” which referred to Sultan Abdul Majid ibni Sultan Muhammad Shah visited and passed away in Nanjing in 1408 and his tomb is located in the Memorial Park.
At the official opening ceremony, Her Royal Highness in her sabda highlighted the longstanding ties and excellent bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China, and expressed appreciation to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for preserving the much-valued historical ties.
Her Royal Highness also graced a Luncheon hosted by His Excellency Yang Xuepeng, Executive Mayor of Nanjing and a dinner hosted by His Excellency Xing Chunning, Deputy Director General of Jiangsu People’s Congress Standing Committee. Her Royal Highness also visted the Singapore-Nanjing Eco High-tech Island.
