Brunei Darussalam and France have established good bilateral relations and are exploring opportunities for cooperation in various fields. The friendship between both countries has always been strengthened both at the international and regional level. The friendship was further strengthened by an official visit by His Excellency Mathieu Darnaud, President of the French Southeast Asia Committee and delegation to the country. His Excellency is in the country for 3 days.
A meeting between His Excellency and delegation and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussien, Minister of Energy took place at the Prime Minister's Office.
His Excellency and delegation held a meeting with Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
A meeting between His Excellency and delegation with Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, Attorney General also took place at the Attorney General's Chambers.
His Excellency and delegation then had a meeting with Dayang Hajah Mardiana binti Haji Omar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meetings acted as a platform for both parties to exchange views in various areas.
His Excellency and delegation arrived in the country on the 12th May night. Present at the Brunei International Airport to welcome their arrival was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.
