Post: Office of the President Proposes Slightly Reduced Budget for 2025, Maintains Confidential and Intelligence Funds

MANILA - The Office of the President (OP) has proposed a budget reduction for 2025, requesting PHP10.4 billion, which is nearly PHP200 million less than the budget for 2024.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 2025 National Expenditure Program (NEP) detailed on the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) website, the OP's total proposed budget is PHP10,446,475,000. This represents a decrease from the PHP10,645,573,000 budgeted in 2024. The planned expenditures include PHP1,274,479,000 for personnel services, PHP7,955,419,000 for maintenance and other operating expenses, and PHP1,216,577,000 for capital outlay.

Despite the overall budget decrease, the OP's proposed allocation for confidential and intelligence funds remains unchanged at PHP4.56 billion, split between PHP2.250 billion for confidential funds and PHP2.310 billion for intelligence funds—levels that have been consistent since 2022.

The DBM has submitted the 2025 NEP, which totals PHP6.325 trillion, to both the House and Senate for approval on Monday.
