Northern Samar Set for Major Renewable Energy Expansion with Envision Energy’s Wind Turbine Project

ALLEN, NORTHERN SAMAR – Northern Samar province is gearing up for a significant boost in its renewable energy capacity with the proposed installation of Envision Energy’s Wind Turbine Project in Allen town, marking the sixth such initiative in the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, head of the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (PEDIPO), Envision Energy, recognized globally for its green technology innovations, is planning to install approximately 30 wind turbines. These turbines, which are projected to occupy 100 to 500 hectares of land, could generate about 200 megawatts of power and are targeted for completion by 2027. Representatives from Envision visited the provincial capitol this Monday to discuss the project details.

“This project would be Envision Energy’s first wind turbine initiative in the Philippines if realized,” Berbon stated in a recent interview, highlighting its potential historical significance. He added that Northern Samar Governor Edwin Ongchuan has been actively promoting the province as an ideal location for wind energy developments, supported by studies indicating superior wind speeds in the area compared to other provinces.

Additionally, discussions during the meeting also touched upon potential future projects, including the establishment of sustainable car battery factories in Northern Samar, as part of broader efforts to attract more investments into the province. Such initiatives are expected to spur job creation and economic growth.

Envision’s project adds to a list of ongoing and proposed green energy ventures in Northern Samar, including Lihangin’s Onshore Wind Farm and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ Offshore Wind Farm, among others. These projects collectively underscore the province’s commitment to enhancing its renewable energy footprint and contributing to sustainable development.
