National University and Adamson University Secure Spots in Asiabasket Semifinals


TAGUIG CITY — National University and Adamson University each clinched a victory in their respective quarterfinal matches at the 2024 ANTA Asiabasket International Championship, held Sunday night at Enderun Colleges. Their wins have advanced them to the semifinals of the tournament.



According to Philippines News Agency, National University’s Jolo Manansala led the team with a strong performance of 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals, contributing to an 83-63 victory over San Beda University Red Lions. The Bulldogs have maintained a perfect record with five wins. Mohammed Diassana also played a significant role, adding 14 points and four rebounds to the team’s tally.



Adamson University matched NU’s record by securing their fifth consecutive win against Phenom Blue Fire with a score of 105-80. AJ Fransman spearheaded the Falcons’ effort with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Cedrick Manzano supported with 15 points and seven rebounds, ensuring the team’s advancement.



Looking ahead, National University will face Far Eastern University (FEU), which recently secured a 94-89 win over National Formosa University-Taiwan. FEU’s rookie Veejay Pre impressed with 26 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and one block. Meanwhile, Adamson is set to compete against College of Saint Benilde, which defeated Mapua University 90-63, led by Matthew Oli and Jesse Arciaga who scored a combined 23 points, along with contributions from Paul Turco and Roger Ondoa.
