The Language and Literature Bureau will hold a Brunei Darussalam National Oratory Competition 2019 in conjunction with the Language Month 2019 celebration in January 2020. The National Oratory Competition will be opened to Malay and Non-Malay youths aged between 16 and 25 in the four districts. The competition is aimed at finding talents in oratory. In this regard, the Language and Literature Bureau invites interested youths to take part in the competition.
According to Dayang Hajah Sariani binti Hj Ishak, Head of Language Development and Propagation Section, Language and Literature Bureau, the competition’s topics include Youth in the 4th Industrial Revolution, Malay Language Our Language, Youth Catalyst of the Nation’s Culture Perpetuation, Malay Language in the Digital Arena and Future Ready Youths. Participants wishing to join the competition can choose a suitable topic and should not divert from the theme provided. The oratory materia; need not focus on Malay Language only but participants can explore other fields such as economy, industry, information technology development by using Malay Language as the medium.
The competition is offering a one thousand dollar cash prize, Language Oratory Trophy, Plaque, Books published by the Language and Literature Bureau as well as certificate to the first prize winner. Second prize winners will receive a 700 dollar cash prize, third prize is 500 dollars and consolation prize is 150 dollars. The prizes include a plaque, books published by the Bureau and certificate.
