3,807 orphans registered under the Department of Community Development, JAPEM received donations at the National Level Donation Presentation to Orphans Ceremony. The ceremony organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through JAPEM in collaboration with the Brunei Muara District Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD took place yesterday morning at Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The function included a presentation of the BIBD Excellent Student Incentive Scheme to 14 orphans by Awang Junaidi bin Haji Masri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BIBD. Also held was the presentation of donation envelopes for orphans in each district to representatives of the district officers.
The donations were from the collection of the JAPEM Orphans Fund amounting $380,700, Brunei Muara District Orphans Fund amounting $57,105 and contributions from BIBD amounting $190,350.
