Jerudong: The First Series of the National Disaster Exercise 2026, known as LBK 01/2026, successfully concluded after a three-day event starting on June 23, 2026. The exercise aimed to enhance the country's preparedness for potential large-scale disasters. This national-level disaster management exercise was a collaborative effort organized by the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) and the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs. A press conference was held at Dewan Persidangan, Bridex, in Jerudong to discuss the outcomes and objectives of the exercise.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Colonel Muhammad Wata bin Abdullah Awat, Acting Director of the National Disaster Management Centre, explained during the press conference that the main objective of the exercise was to assess the readiness levels of involved agencies in handling large-scale disaster scenarios. Additionally, the exercise aimed to identify gaps, challenges, and areas needing improvement in the country's disaster management strategies. It also sought to strengthen cooperation between various agencies through a Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Nation approach.
