Ramadan came to to an end as soon as the Magrib Call for Prayer resounded yesterday afternoon. Now the month of Syawal will be celebrated as the month of victory after Muslims have performed the fast and abstained from lustful desires for the whole month of Ramadan. For those who had successfully abstained, they are able to experience the joy and beauty of performing the fast.
Ramadan is a month of religious deeds. All Muslims, specifically in Brunei Darussalam, give thanks and their gratefulness to Allah Subhanahu Wataala for enabling them to meet the two months which have its own blessings and rewards. The effect of the tarbiah or education carried out throughout Ramadan is still interred in the hearts of every Muslim as the final result of Ramadan is piety.
During Ramadan, all mosques, suraus and religious halls were glorifies nightly with the mass sunat Tarawih prayer which can only be performed during Ramadan. This occurs with the coming of every Ramadan, the month full of blessedness and forgiveness, of which the gates of heaven is always open for Muslims to together seek blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wataala who promises huge and noble blessings and rewards. The Muslim ummah glorified the nights of Ramadan with multiplying religious practises to Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala.
It is also in the month of Ramadan that the opportunity to multiply religious acts either obligatory practises or commendable ones, including tadarus Al-Quran, reciting zikir, alms-giving and carrying out charitable deeds. Thus, very fortunate are the ones who grab the rewards promised by Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala and those who neglect it are at a loss. A special night is also bestowed called the night of Lailatul Qadar, a night that is better than one thousand months. The event of Nuzul Al-Quran or revelation of Al-Quran gives a huge meaning to Muslims over the eras. The event teaches the ummah to truly assimilate Al-Quran teachings.
The month of Ramadan produces praiseworthy behaviour such as philanthropy, as well as caring and attentive towards social responsibilities. Various parties have come forward to contribute donations and aid. The donations come pouring in and various forms of assistance were given to those requiring it, as a way of providing joy and happiness for those celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The end of Ramadan means that we begin to celebrate Aidilfitri. This is a day of victory for Muslims after completing the fast. Celebrate Syawal in moderation. Hopefully we will once again meet the next Ramadan, the blessed month long awaited by all Muslims.
