Misamis Oriental Collaborates with Indonesia for Advanced Agricultural Technology
CAGAYAN: Misamis Oriental, in a significant move to enhance its agricultural sector, is partnering with the Indonesian government to implement advanced agricultural technologies. Provincial Board Member Rey Buhisan announced that a delegation of Indonesian agriculturists will visit the province to inspect designated demo farms. The collaboration is part of a comprehensive strategy to bolster local food production and is slated to commence in the first quarter, focusing on pilot areas in Gingoog and El Salvador cities and several municipalities.
According to Philippines News Agency, who is also the Committee on Agriculture chair at the provincial board, the initiative includes setting up a 25-hectare pilot farm in Balingasag. This project aims to distribute farm produce exclusively within the 23 towns and two cities of the province, aligning with Governor Peter Unabia’s vision for improving agriculture and ensuring food security. Last year, the provincial government forged a partnership with Indonesia, laying the groundwork for the adoption of innovative agricultural practices. This venture also involves setting up a rice processing plant in collaboration with the First Community Cooperative, modeled after Indonesia’s agricultural techniques.
