Ministry of Health Provides Aid to Hospitalized Flood Victims in BARMM
BARMM – The Ministry of Health has announced the provision of medical assistance to hospitalized flood victims across multiple provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), focusing on those severely affected by recent flooding.
According to Philippines News Agency, the aid will be distributed under the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIPP), benefiting those in Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, and the Special Geographic Area in North Cotabato. Dr. Sinolinding emphasized that all admitted flood victims can avail themselves of comprehensive hospital coverage, which includes doctor’s fees at accredited regional infirmaries. “All admitted patients who were flood victims during the recent calamity in Lanao Sur, Maguindanao provinces, and SGA need not worry because we have the MAIFIPP program,” stated Sinolinding.
The initiative is part of a broader commitment to ensure access to quality healthcare, which Dr. Sinolinding describes as a fundamental right. The ministry is currently conducting validation and assessments to finalize the list of beneficiaries. An amount of PHP5.5 million has been allocated for MAIFIPP, which has been transferred to various hospitals following the signing of a recent memorandum of agreement.
