Mindoreños Celebrate 73rd Anniversary with Livelihood and Nature Festivities

Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Philippines – The provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro are set to mark their 73rd founding anniversary with an array of festivities for both locals and visitors. The celebrations coincide with special non-working holidays declared in both provinces.

According to Philippines News Agency, In Oriental Mindoro, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, on behalf of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., declared a special non-working holiday through Proclamation 373. Similarly, Republic Act 11123 recognizes November 15 as a non-working day annually in Occidental Mindoro.

The Oriental Mindoro festivities, themed “Fiesta MaHalTa Na,” represent the province’s unique attributes: Mangyan people, Mount Halcon, Tamaraw species, and Naujan Lake. The celebrations, which began on Monday, will feature a street party, a concert, and a fireworks display at the provincial capitol grounds.

Meanwhile, Occidental Mindoro kicked off its Arawatan Festival on October 31. The province will celebrate one of its key industries with the biggest tuna catch challenge. The weeklong festivities will conclude with the third season of the Tinig, Galaw at Talentong (Voice, Movement, and Talent) Mindoreño and a variety show featuring guest performers.
