Post: Meralco Promises Prompt Power Restoration Post-Flooding

MANILA - The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has committed to swiftly restoring electricity to customers impacted by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon as soon as floodwaters recede. The company confirmed that extensive efforts are underway to monitor the situation and deploy restoration teams promptly.

According to Philippines News Agency, vice president and head of corporate communications at Meralco, the company is actively monitoring flooded regions and will initiate power restoration operations immediately after the flood levels drop. "Our teams will immediately be deployed to restore power service once floods subside in the affected areas," Zaldarriaga stated. As of noon on Wednesday, Meralco reported that 124,679 customers across its franchise areas were without electricity due to the adverse weather conditions.

Most of the affected customers are in Metro Manila, where 96,605 individuals are currently experiencing power outages. The breakdown of affected areas also includes 11,422 customers in Cavite, 9,320 in Rizal, and 6,501 in Bulacan. Additionally, 459 customers in Batangas and smaller numbers in Laguna and Quezon are facing similar challenges, with 326 and 46 customers affected, respectively.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has reported that its transmission lines and facilities are functioning normally as of 2 p.m. Zaldarriaga assured the public that Meralco's crews are diligently working to restore power and urged everyone to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions during this period.
