Hanoi: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, expressed appreciation for the continued warm and close friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Viet Nam, emphasizing the stronger bilateral cooperation following the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Partnership. Viet Nam remains a crucial trading partner, and Brunei Darussalam is keen to deepen cooperation in sectors such as agri-food, aquaculture, halal, and the oil and gas industry.
According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty delivered the remarks during a meeting with His Excellency To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. His Majesty recalled discussions during His Excellency’s visit to Brunei Darussalam in 2020, when he was the Minister of Public Security, focusing on strengthening security cooperation, including transnational crime. His Majesty welcomed efforts by both sides to finalize agreements on extradition, transnational crime, and the transfer of prisoners. His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen accompanied His Majesty to the meeting.
His Majesty was received at the Headquarters of the Communist Party of Viet Nam by His Excellency and observed a Static Guard of Honour. During the meeting, His Majesty highlighted the importance of people-to-people exchanges through scholarship offers and training programs, which have fostered closer ties between the two countries. In conclusion, His Majesty extended an invitation for His Excellency to visit Brunei Darussalam.
