Media Conference on Transition Phase

 

Several service counters for departments and authorities under the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications will be opened effective this Saturday, 20th November with the capacity of counter staff not exceeding 50 percent. The move is in line with the Transition Phase of the National COVID-19 Rehabilitation Framework. The public who wish to deal at the service counters under the Ministry are advised to comply with the COVID-19 control measures for the Transition Phase currently in force. The ministry also called on the public to continue using online services and TD123 and cashless payments in together curbing the COVID-19. At the media conference on Transition Phase for Services under the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, yesterday afternoon, some updates were shared on Counter Services during the Transition Phase such as Land Transport Department’s Counter Services, Opening of Driving Schools, Training and Driving Tests, Backlog Application for Driving and Vehicle Licences Through TD123, and the New Postal Services Process. For LTD’s counter services, starting this Saturday, the Vehicle and Driving Licences can be collected at the branches of the Land Transport Department. Applicants will be contacted for the date and place of collection.

 

On the opening of driving schools, training and driving tests, Awang Haji Rozaly bin Haji Saidon, Director of Land Transport said 23 driving school operators will be allowed to operate again whereby a total of 308 students are waiting to undergo driving tests. 240 students applied for practical driving tests at the Sungai Akar Driving Circuit Complex; 20 students applied at LTD Tutong branch; 40 applications at LTD Kuala Belait branch; and 8 applications at LTD Temburong branch.

 

Regarding the Backlog Application for Driving and Vehicle Licences Through TD123, Dayang Mazriyani binti Haji Abdul Ghani, Director of the E-Government National Centre explained that 29 additional call agents for TD123 are assigned to receive calls and applications. According to her, as a result of the improvements and enhancements, TD123 has managed to reduce the abandoned call rate from 41 per cent in September 2021 and 38 per cent in October 2021 to 18 per cent in November 2021.

 

Meanwhile, the new process will be implemented at all Post Office branches. According to Awang Haji Aminuddin bin Haji Md Taib, Acting Postmaster General, as of this Saturday, all of the Postal Services Department’s branches will operate from 8 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon on every working day. The One-Stop Delivery Centre, Mail Processing Centre opens on every working day, while the Anggerek Desa Post Office and Brunei International Airport will be closed. Eight postal branches will operate and accept customers for renewal of driving and Vehicle Licences. The branches are Mail Processing Centre, MPC, Muara Post Office, Seri Complex Post Office, Sengkurong Post Office and Menglait Post Office for Brunei Muara District. Tutong Branch Post Office for Tutong District and Seria Post Office and Mumong Branches for Belait District. The service will begin on 20th November, 2021.
