LTO Introduces Hotline Service for Expedited Driver’s License Processing
QUEZON CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched a new initiative, allowing motorists to expedite the printing of their driver’s licenses through a dedicated hotline, aimed at addressing the backlog in plastic license card distribution.
According to Philippines News Agency, motorists who have not yet claimed their plastic-printed driver’s license can now utilize the ‘Aksyon on the Spot 09292920865’ system. By scanning or taking a photo of their paper-printed license and sending it via Viber, drivers can facilitate faster processing. “We will immediately print their driver’s license in the Central Office here in Quezon City and offer them the option to have their plastic-printed driver’s license delivered through our accredited courier service,” Mendoza explained in a recent news release.
The initiative comes as a response to the significant backlog that has accumulated over the years. LTO data reveals that only five percent of those entitled to a plastic license have not claimed their cards. Mendoza reassured the public, noting that the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and LTO have bid out approximately 9.7 million cards. “So, there’s no reason why we will not have enough cards for the entire year,” Mendoza stated earlier, addressing concerns about potential shortages.
This service is part of broader efforts by the LTO to improve accessibility and efficiency in its services, ensuring that all motorists receive their official driver’s licenses in a timely manner.
