Post: LTO Enforces ‘No Registration, No Travel’ Policy, Apprehends 41 Motorcycles

Manila, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has initiated a strict enforcement of the 'no registration, no travel' policy, resulting in the apprehension of 41 motorcycle riders on the first day. The nationwide crackdown is aimed at unregistered motorcycles.

According to Philippines News Agency, the operation will intensify across the country, focusing on areas with high motorcycle traffic such as Katipunan Avenue and Aurora Boulevard. Mendoza stated that all apprehended drivers were issued citation tickets and their motorcycles were impounded. He has also instructed LTO regional directors to collaborate with regional police and local traffic enforcement units to enhance the effectiveness of the crackdown. The operation is part of the LTO's commitment to ensuring road safety and compliance with vehicle registration laws. Mendoza highlighted the significant number of motorcycles, estimated at about 24.7 million delinquent vehicles nationwide, mostly motorcycles, that have been unregistered for up to five years. This crackdown aligns with Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista's directive to ensure all motor vehicles pass roadworthiness inspections, a vital part of the annual vehicle registration process. Mendoza urged all delinquent motor vehicle owners to register their vehicles promptly to avoid serious consequences.
