Letran Secures Fifth Consecutive Victory in NCAA Season 99 Juniors’ Basketball
SAN JUAN — Letran Knights extended their winning streak to five games by defeating Arellano University with a decisive 106-85 score in the NCAA Season 99 juniors’ basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Arena on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Daniel Padilla led the charge with a game-high 28 points, alongside six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Jolo Navarro also made significant contributions, recording 19 points, an impressive 22 rebounds, and two steals, helping the defending champion Squires maintain their lead in the standings at 6-1.
Moses Manalili and Justine Hugo were instrumental in Letran’s victory, with Manalili adding 14 points, nine assists, four steals, and two rebounds, and Hugo contributing 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and a steal. This win further solidified Letran’s position at the top of the leaderboard while pushing Arellano University’s Braves to their sixth defeat in seven games.
In another match of the day, San Sebastian College-Recoletos secured a win against the College of Saint Benilde, 76-67, showcasing a strong performance by Rion Porcadas who scored 22 points, including five three-pointers, and added 10 rebounds and three steals. Jhun Peñaverde supported the effort with 19 points, six rebounds, and five steals, while Ruvic Danag contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block. This victory improved San Sebastian’s record to five wins and three losses.
The Junior Blazers, despite a notable performance by Guillian Quines who scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds, faced their fifth loss in seven matches. Additional contributions came from James Ison with 13 points and four rebounds, and Gian Gomez and Arie Podador, who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
