Berakas, Brunei — The Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023 and its National Committee were formally established with the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. A launching ceremony was held on the morning of 18th October at the Conference Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, spoke about the significance of the humanitarian fund within the Islamic context at the event.
As reported by Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, stated that the donation collection for the humanitarian fund will span a 3-month period. During this time, various parties will have the opportunity to organize charity drives aimed at collecting donations from the country's citizens and residents for Palestinians in Gaza.
The 'SMS Brunei Prihatin' for the Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023 is one of the collection methods, and will be implemented in collaboration with Datastream Digital Sendirian Berhad; Progresif Sendirian Berhad and Imagine Sendirian Berhad. A committee meeting was also convened to discuss related matters.
