In conjunction with the Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen Day which is celebrated on every 1st of November, the Agriculture and Agrifood Department and the Fisheries Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism today held the Agricultural, Fishery and Agrifood Products Sale Festival. It was officially launched at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital yesterday morning.
The festival was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. With the theme ‘Prioritise Our Agricultural And Fishery Products’ the event is in line with a strategic goal of the ministry to increase the production of local agricultural and fishery products in support of the government’s aspiration to diversify the country’s economy while simultaneously increasing the Gross Domestic Product, GDP.
The day-long sale festival offered agricultural, fishery and agrifood products. Also taking place was an exhibition by the Agriculture and Agrifood Department and Fisheries Department that showcased projects carried out by the said departments. They also provided support and consultative services to farmers, breeders, fishermen and food entrepreneurs as well as members of the public seeking information and advice on agriculture, fisheries and agrifood. Also in attendance were Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Ishak, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Awang Abdul Halidi bin Mohd Salleh, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary For Tourism at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
