389 participants of the ‘One Week, One Juzuk’ programme who had completed the reading of 30 Juzuk of Al-Quran took part in a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in the morning. The programme aims to support His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah, which places religious education highly, especially at the basic level of Al-Quran reading so that it remains strong.

Present was Awang Haji Mohd. Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Director of Islamic Legal Unit, Ministry of Religious Affairs. The participants comprised pupils from Pre-school to Primary 5 Classes for Brunei Area Four. The programme was first introduced last February.

Throughout the programme, the participants were guided by religious school Al-Quran teachers every day after school hours. The programme aimed to further refine the quality of Al-Quran reading at religious schools and make the culture of Al-Quran reading a daily practice.
