His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Committee of Governors attended the Khatam Al- Quran Ceremony in conjunction with Ramadan 1440 Hijrah. The ceremony was held at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Dr. Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance as Deputy Chairman as well as other members of the Yayasan Board of Directors and Dato Paduka Eddie bin Dato Paduka Haji Sunny, Yayasan’s Managing Director.
The function began with the reading of takhtim Al-Quran by 30 officers and staff of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, led by Awang Muhammad Syazwanshah bin Razali, Religious teacher at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
Doa Khatam and Doa Selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin, Syari’e Appeal Court Judge.
The ceremony ran concurrently with breaking of the fast. Mass Maghrib prayer was led by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was established on the 5th of October 1992 as the foundation of charitable deeds and contribution of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty’s family. It is the symbol of the Monarch’s love and care towards the people, and acts as a facilitator for creating a peaceful and prosperous community. Also present were members of the Yayasan Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, officers and staff, as well as teachers of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School.
