Japanese National Arrested at NAIA for Fake Visa
Pasay City, Philippines – A Japanese national was apprehended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 in Pasay City for possessing a counterfeit visa. The arrest was made by Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents as the individual attempted to board a flight to Osaka.
According to Philippines News Agency, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco reported that Yoshiaki Nakamura, 64, was intercepted on Sunday, November 19, when immigration officers flagged his Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) as suspicious. Upon secondary inspection and validation by the agency’s forensic document laboratory, it was confirmed that Nakamura’s SRRV affixed to his passport was counterfeit. Nakamura is now detained at the BI’s Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig City, pending deportation proceedings.
Tansingco issued a stern warning to all foreign nationals about the severe consequences of possessing counterfeit documents, which violate Philippine immigration laws. He stressed the commitment of the Bureau of Immigration to safeguard the integrity of the Philippine immigration system and take decisive action against those attempting to deceive or defraud it.
