Post: Isolated Rain Showers Expected Across the Philippines Due to Localized Thunderstorms and Northeast Monsoon

Manila — most areas in the Philippines are anticipated to experience isolated rain showers driven by localized thunderstorms, according to an announcement made on Thursday by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

According to a new release by the Philippines News Agency, forecaster Patrick del Mundo stated that the northeast monsoon, or "amihan," will lead to isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also see isolated rain showers, particularly in the afternoon or evening. Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue across Northern Luzon, while other areas will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas. Del Mundo also noted that cloud clusters outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility have a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the coming hours.
