Two Indonesians were sentenced to imprisonment for offences under the Immigration Act Chapter 17.

Purwati, aged 44, was found to have been staying in the country after being deported. The offender was sentenced under Section 36 of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 which is one year imprisonment and a fine of one thousand dollars. The offender failed to pay the fine and was sentenced to one year and one month imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Sudarmono, aged 46, was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping under Section 15 1 of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 for overstaying in the country after his immigration pass has expired for 154 days. Both offenders were arrested on 8th March 2023 at a rental house in Jalan Pasai, Sengkurong.
