Ilocos Norte Elects New Liga ng mga Barangay President, Ryan John Pascua
Ilocos Norte, Philippines – Ryan John Pascua, from Barangay Badio, Pinili town, has been elected as the new president of the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Ilocos Norte Chapter. In his vow for excellence in governance, Pascua emphasized his commitment to enhancing the welfare of the people and strengthening camaraderie among public officials.
According to Philippines News Agency, which took place at the Ilocos Norte Capitol session hall on Friday, Pascua and other league officers were declared winners after running unopposed. The elected officers include Vice-President Felix Aguinaldo Jr., Auditor Evelyn Imelda Dancel, and board members Virgilio Calajate, Nelson Good, Gilbert Medina, Roque Benjamin Ablan, Melcon Saguid, Derek Velasco, Lendel Benedict Chua, and Rolando Boque. Notably, Melcon Sagid, LnB municipal federation president from Dingras town, was absent from the election.
Robert Fernandez, an officer from the Commission on Elections, highlighted the role of the newly-elected officials in developing and implementing policies and programs that address the needs of the province’s 559 villages across 21 towns and two cities. He congratulated the officials for their smooth election process and expressed hope that they would inspire faster service delivery.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Ilocos Norte’s acting provincial director, Gerald Gallardo, confirmed the orderly conduct of the election but noted that the schedule for the oath-taking ceremony is yet to be determined.
