H&M Launches First Store in Brazil with Local Manufacturing Ambitions


Sao paulo: Swedish fast-fashion retailer H and M opened its first physical store in Brazil on Saturday and launched online operations in the country, where it is already producing some items locally, including footwear and beachwear, an executive said. The short-term goal is to open four stores in Sao Paulo state over the coming months, Joaquim Pereira, H and M Brazil’s country manager, said in an interview on Friday.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the opening of the store marks H and M’s initial foray into the Brazilian market, aiming to establish a robust presence by expanding its retail footprint. The company’s strategy includes leveraging local production capabilities to cater to the Brazilian market’s unique demands, with a focus on footwear and beachwear.

Joaquim Pereira highlighted that the company’s immediate plan is to establish four additional stores in Sao Paulo state soon. This expansion is seen as a significant step in solidifying H and M’s market presence in Brazil, providing consumers
with both in-store and online shopping experiences.
