Shortly after participating in the Royal Birthday Cycling Recreation 2019, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined and witnessed the Bandarku Ceria activities and shared cheerful and exciting moments with members of the people who had gathered at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien since early morning. This week the Bandarku Ceria programme was conducted by youths with the goal of providing both opportunity and awareness to the youths on aspects of family life by focusing on strengthening the family institution and more positive ‘mind-set’ change.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
The participation of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF in the recreational programme showcased the forces approach especially in activities involving the community. The approach was very effective and efficient particularly when applied in national development programmes besides encouraging the healthy lifestyle. The RBAF activities showed physical exercises that demanded both physical and mental endurance.
His Majesty then visited the ‘Art For All’ exhibition organised by differently-abled persons from Pusat Bahagia with the cooperation of Creative Core.
There were two zones manned by government agencies, the private sector, youth and sports associations and clubs s well as many others. The Creative and Innovation Zone focused on youth activities in the form of creative industry as well as youths who are active in the field of technology.
His Majesty through His Majesty’s government gives top priority to the interests and welfare of the country’s senior citizens. This includes the establishment of Senior Citizens Activities Centres which provide facilities for senior citizens to engage in constructive, recreational and sports activities.
The Monarch also showed keen interest in the products of two local siblings who have been creative and innovative caricature artists for almost 20 years. They hope their products contribute significantly to the wealth of the country’s creative industry.
At the 1 Village 1 Product or Satu K, Satu P booth, His Majesty viewed an exhibition by Mukim and Village Consultative Councils.
After the His Majesty witnessed the ‘Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam’ which presented the ‘adjusted’ golf game. Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam provides the intellects of the differently-abled group to participate in Olympics type games such as Bocce, football and bowling, besides the ability to enhance the healthy lifestyle through healthy bodies and minds.
‘Tarbiyah on Wheels’ organised by Syarikat Happy Harun also attracted His Majesty’s attention. ‘Tarbiyah on Wheels’ provides exposure to knowledge, especially for children apart from increasing their love for the knowledge of Islam and sciences.
The Darussalam Motorcycle Association or PEMODA and Bike BN held various family and solidarity oriented activities.
A loving family is aware of family health issues, including in practising the healthy lifestyle and avoiding activities which are harmful to health. Engaging in healthy activities with the family will also keep the family away from negative elements that can jeopardise one’s future.
In channelling knowledge and awareness on cultural heritage, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Brunei Museums Department organised a number of traditional games under the ‘edutainment’ concept. His Majesty then visited the recycled games activity of the SustainaBRU Project.
Meanwhile the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, AMDB booth organised a financial roadshow with the aim to increase awareness on the importance of saving, financial self-reliance, and on ways to address financial issues.
After that the Monarch viewed the National Road Safety Council, MKKJR exhibition. The displays highlighted the importance of vehicle safety features in avoiding accidents and reducing injuries.
His Majesty also viewed various youth activities which showcased the dynamism of the creative industry and youth solidarity. The recreational activity is hoped to become a platform for youths to contribute towards talent development for the young generation by providing exposure and opportunities to explore creativity in a dynamic environment.
The youth continue to move forward rapidly in various fields including entrepreneurship and volunteerism. They come forward in upholding His Majesty’s titah to always strive to develop personality, education and excellent capabilities and at the same time instil religious, family community and nationhood awareness because this is what meant by High Quality Youth desired by the country. The characteristics and values should be developed further.
The most interesting part was when His Majesty joined a football game organised by SPARK Company Sendirian Berhad. Also participating in the game were His Royal Highness The Crown Prince and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
