Bandar seri begawan: Athletes are encouraged to show high sportsmanship, compete with dignity, uphold the country’s name with pride and maintain the country’s image. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stated the matter during the National Flag Handover Ceremony to the Brunei Darussalam Contingent participating in the 6th Borneo Games 2025. The event will be held in Kuching Sarawak from the 24th until 28th of September. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi Mohamad also explained that Brunei Darussalam’s participation in the Games is not just as a sports event but as a platform to strengthen friendship, regional unity and appreciation for the cultural heritage shared with Sabah, Sarawak, Kalimantan and the Federal Territory of Labuan, as well as to elevate the field of sports, especially in sports development. The handover took place at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, 17th September morning.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat stressed that the athletes should avoid using questionable medicines or supplements as it can have a serious impact on the athletes’ participation as well as jeopardise Brunei Darussalam’s good name. The participants are reminded to maintain their discipline and show good behaviour not only in the arena but also wherever they may be.
The National Flag was handed over to Awang Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly, Chef de Mission. Also present was His Excellency Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam.
