Athletes who will compete in the Commonwealth Youth Games are urged to remain committed in giving their best and not to give up easily. This is a commitment that must be shouldered and carried out to achieve excellence and raise the country's name. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council stated the matter in a sabda at the National Flag Handover Ceremony to the country's contingent for the 7th Commonwealth Youth Games, Trinidad and Tobago 2023. In the sabda that was read by Awang Haji Mohd Zamri bin Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani, Vice President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, His Royal Highness expressed hope that the country's athletes will remain focus during the competition. The ceremony took place on 31st July morning, at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The 8-member contingent comprised 4 athletes and 4 officers including a Chef de Mission. The Games will take place from the 4th to 11th of August 2023 in Trinidad and Tobago. The country's athletes will compete in the swimming event. They will leave for Trinidad and Tobago on 1st August 2023.
